I have a waffle iron that cooks two waffles at a time. I can cook up a
batch of waffles in half the time! It's just so wonderful!

That's fantastic. I wish someone would invent a waffle iron that can
do 4 waffles at a time.

We have two waffle irons. His and hers. They make round waffles
about 8 inches in diameter. I eat one; he eats two. He doesn't
mind (and I didn't when I ate two) that the second waffle cooks
while he's eating the first waffle.

I didn't know waffles were so big in the US. We've never made one at
home and away from home, I may have had 1 or 2 in all my life. And I
was born next to the birth country of the waffle!

I don't have a waffle iron, I just buy the frozen ones
when I get a hankering for them. But, if I were getting
married and someone was going to gift me one, I'd like

We like out Cuisinart waffle maker. If you want one you should probably
check out garage sales. I would expect them to be one of those items
bought on a whim or as a gift and never used. My wife and I make waffles
about once a month but I don't know anyone else who actually makes them.

I was thinking I'd like the B&D model if I were on the
verge of trotting down the aisle. Both could be having
breakfast together instead of one chowing down while the
other person is still waiting on their waffle to cook.

When the kids were young, we had a waffle iron that made 5 (or was it
6?) heart-shaped waffles at a time.

Now we have one that makes two fairly large ones at a time.

I have a very old chrome looking waffle iron from the 1950's that makes
two (square) waffles at a time. I vaguely remember my mother using it
when I was a kid. For some reason she kept it forever and I wound up
with it. I don't feel like dragging it out of the pantry to check the
brand or snap another pic of it. It's very retro. Cooking waffles are
simply not that interesting to me.

I think that few people use waffle irons often enough to bother getting
or keeping a waffle iron. My wife and I have one and use it quite often.
While I am happy with pancakes my wife really likes waffles. Pancakes
are a snap to make from scratch but waffles are considerably more work.
The eggs have to be separated and the whites beaten then folding into
the batter. It's not the end of the world but enough to make me opt for
the easier pancakes. And then EdP went and told me about that good mix
where you just add water. Pancakes it is.

No, dummy, it's for the cafeteria. Always having a waffle alternative
adds to the culmination of the setting. Some days I can't be fucked to
eat a breaded gristle fat pork chop or the third cheeseburger meal of
the week or the spinach and stuffing extravaganza. It's a matter of
survival, not of personal use.

Our waffle maker goes back to about 1966 when we got married. The
griddle flips to flat so I use it for grilled cheese. Can't recall the
last time we made waffles.

Blueberry pancakes this week. Made enough for four breakfasts so
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Monday.

Waffle House. Let's say "did not meet expectations"

Yep. In some churches the bread and wine are symbolic of the body and
blood of Christ. Others think that a little prayer and mumbo jumbo
transforms it into the actual blood and body.

A couple of times a year my boss and a few other people who work in our
office building will walk next door to the Waffle House to have
breakfast for lunch. None of us ever orders a waffle. Bacon, eggs &
crispy shredded hash browns are usually the order all around. The last
time we went I changed it up. I ordered a breakfast sandwich:
Scrambled eggs with bacon & cheese on buttered, griddled Texas toast. :)

They don't exist here. We used to have Smitty's Pancake House here.
Apparently the chain still exists but there are few outlets. That is
where I first realized that pancake specialty restaurants make the worst
pancakes. Since they usually do waffles as well I assumed the waffles
would be equally bad. The last time I had pancakes in an independent
pancake house they too were awful.

The separated egg? Of course you can save the work and skip that part
but it does make a world of difference to the texture. They are lighter
and crisper. That is what my wife especially likes about waffles.

Then again, a few people get and keep waffle irons and only use
them once or twice a year.
I think that would qualify as not using them enough to bother having one.
What bother? They sit on a shelf until required. It's not
as if they chase us around the kitchen.

My wife and I have one and use it quite often.
While I am happy with pancakes my wife really likes waffles. Pancakes
are a snap to make from scratch but waffles are considerably more work.
The eggs have to be separated and the whites beaten then folding into
the batter.
That's a choice, not a necessity.
The separated egg? Of course you can save the work and skip that part
but it does make a world of difference to the texture. They are lighter
and crisper. That is what my wife especially likes about waffles.
My husband makes the waffles. The choice is his. I don't care
that much. They get sufficiently light and crisp.

I have folded beaten egg whites into waffle batter. I've also made
waffles that are leavened with yeast. They are good. I've gonna have to
make me some. These aren't waffles, these are hash browns.

I doubt my mother would have gone to all that trouble. Seems to me she
used the same batter when she made waffles as she did pancakes. Heck,
for all I know she used Aunt Jemima Pancake mix. (This would have been
in the 1960's.)

I realize they woked up and changed the name but to tell the truth I had
not noticed if they even sold that stuff any more because I was so
uninterested in buying pancake mix I never used to look to see what was
available. However, I have fond memories of it as a kid. Even though we
had home made pancakes and waffles with Old Tyme syrup we used to get
Aunt Jemima pancakes and syrup at the Canadian National Exhibition in
Toronto. There was the Pure Foods Building where all sorts of food
producers were flogging samples. As kids we could go there for the day
and get enough food samples that we did not need to take or buy a lunch.
Aunt Jemimas was one of our favourites.

You are 100% correct for once in your life. I'd probably

Nope, I don't want to end up death row by killing a turd

Let me break it down for you.

1.) On 2/20/2025 I said:

I don't have a waffle iron, I just buy the frozen ones
when I get a hankering for them.  But, if I were getting
married and someone was going to gift me one, I'd like
the B&D model.

2.) On 2/21/2025 Bryan blurted out:

Like that'll ever happen.

3.) Same day, 2/21/2025, I retorted to the mental midget:

You are 100% correct for once in your life.  I'd probably
end up married to an opiniated asshole such as yourself.
Nope, I don't want to end up on death row by killing a turd

Was that a juvenile double-entendre? We were talking about waffle irons
and some had specified brand names. When she mentioned B&D I
automatically saw it as Black and Decker.

That's funny kine Asian waffles. Funny kine Asian waffles are getting
popular at snack shops. The strange part is that commercial waffle
makers are available for less than $200. That's strange.

Americans are expert on regular waffles, frozen waffles, and Belgian
waffles. Americans love waffles. Waffles are on the menu in most
restaurants that specialize in breakfast fare. Americans don't eat much
stroowafles. My favorite waffle is Belgian. I love my god-damn waffles.
We even have waffles in the Chinese restaurant down the street. The only
question I got is do the Dutch eat Belgian waffles?

Ah yes, that's also a type of waffle. I have to revise my statement
that I only had waffles a few times. I had lots of stroopwafels. But
I've never had waffles for breakfast. I've also never seen a chain
that has waffles in its name.

I have no idea. Apart from stroopwafels, waffles aren't really on my
radar.
Food and cooking are not on your radar screen either. It's quite
strange. Lunch today was pork and eggplant. Gosh, it's good!

Excellent stuff! Probably no eggplant for me, but the rest looks awesome!

My second favorite dish would be spicy pork and bitter melon. You
probably won't care for that either. Third would be mapo tofu. These
dishes are fast, cheap, and easy, to prepare.

I'm intrigued! Bitter melon and spicy pork? You're saying it works well
together? Tofu for me, is mostly just filler. It is so mild, it doesn't
really add much. Maybe it is also just that bad quality available here?

Good price.

We just ordered one for a wedding present for our niece.
I have a waffle iron that cooks two waffles at a time. I can cook up a
batch of waffles in half the time! It's just so wonderful!

Oh David... you don't know what you're missing. THIS waffle iron cooks
THREE at a time! ;)

It looks like a good machine, but I don't want sticks in my waffles.
That's funny kine Asian waffles. Funny kine Asian waffles are getting
popular at snack shops. The strange part is that commercial waffle
makers are available for less than $200. That's strange.

Never seen anything like it! Asians are very innovative!
