OUCH! Glad I was no where near then! Meantime, we cancelled the
Dental for Don this morning and no hassles from them. Their parking lot
gets little sun so no melt off, just ice right now.

We never got signifigant meltoff and in fact never got above 22F
yesterday. Meantime the radio news is telling us dripping the cold
water helps but when it's really bad, hot water too needs to drip.
Yup. hot water lines bursting. My next door neighbor is a plumber and
last night, his exterior house line and both hot and cold lines to his
laundry room froze.

Since no trip to dentist for us, we cancelled my normal shopping trip.
That means toast for breakfast tomorrow but I just made some lovely
light rye and that toasts nicely. I used the mortar to powderize the
caraway so it didn't mess with Don's dentures. I have some fancy jars
of preserves gifted for Christmas that will work nicely as well as a
fresh bar of cream cheese. Planning to go get eggs Saturday since the
high today is 32F (if we reach it). Windchill has been 9F to 16F
mostly.

Now looking about the freezer for something good to make a soup of. We
have tons of ham and dry beans so that may be it.

Wow! Me, I am just out of eggs and fresh milk. I may have to shift a
desired meal a bit around it but nothing critical. I keep a good shelf
stable assortment at all times just for dealing with stuff like this.

It's really a non-issue to go a few days. Tommorrow there's good
enough melt off to get to HT and they always plough the parking lot by
the second day. My only holdup was the area between (which is largely
packed slick ice right now). By Saturday, it's a non-issue here.

Meantime, soup's on!

Ham and veggie, bean soup
- I had to use up the ham as Don got too much to fit the freezer

1/2 lb ham, diced to small squares
1 can red kidney beans
1 can Navy beans
2 cans diced tomatoes
3 ears corn kernals, scraped off
2/3 cup diced carrots
1/2 small onion, diced
Chicken broth to cover
1/2 TB French Basil
1 tsp Thyme
1 tsp Black pepper Black pepper
4 cloves minced garlic (cooks down to mild in crockpot)

It's a loose adaption of a 'Pioneer Woman' recipe. To be served with a
hunk of light rye bread to sop up juices. Very hearthy and filling.

It's about 6.50$ to make depending on your ham prices. Ours was on
sale for 1.99lb. Should be 18 servings, more if poured over rice.
We'll freeze some of it.

silly doing that downward dog. Or trying to.

I used to be able to do that. When I was three years old.
I don't try to do back flips any more either.

There's also the possibility that if we manage to do that, we'll have
to spend the rest of our life in that position.

Is there only one such area? I've heard the term before and
just assumed that people close to any point where 3 states
come together at a point would locally call that 'the try-state area'.

When I tell people where I am, I usually say "right next to the tip of
the West Virginia pan handle", to make it easy to visualize on a map.
(Alternatively: "an hour from Pittsburgh".)  Since I'm less than a 10
minute drive from both Ohio and Pennsylvania, I reference "the tri-state
area" frequently.

When I lived in west Tennessee it was known as a "tri-state" area
because Mississippi was the state to the south and across the
Mississippi River was Arkansas. The company I worked for had some
employees who both lived and worked in TN. Other employees lived in MS
or AR and commuted to TN to work. Three states, close together, like a
triangle. :)

Carol, this is off topic! =( As for me, I'm not condemning anyone, so
therefore I cannot be blamed. Naughty Jill who is openly condemning
and blaming, refuses to acknowledge when she herself sins. This is
very unchristian of her, and I'm not sure if Trump will forgive her.

There is a reason why many have you KF'd. Most of it is stupid stuff
like quoting spam messages in toto from others so you can add a 3 word
reply or something like that. It's more than a bit tiresome.

Please feel free to killfile me. It is your choice. Likewise, I will use
my freedom to post what ever I feel like posting.

As always, do note that complaints like yours do trigger me to post even
more, so the best way, and this is a tip from a pro, is to stop the
complaining and get on with your post writing. That way lies peace and
