Coupon Suzy - A Threat to Humanity

I've never seen or heard of Coupon Suzy (or Shannon Moore) until I saw
my first Coupon Suzy commercial yesterday. I immediately recognized
the imminent threat to society as we know it. And now that I see the
commercial a second time, I think I'm going to start digging a bomb
shelter tonight.

I can't find the exact commercial on youtube that I'm referring to but
there are a few others there, all pretty old. My guess is that this
is the first commercial they ever made, and they're just entering the
Austin market. So this may me old news for some of you.

I'm afraid. Very afraid.

Looks like I'm not the only one who considers her a threat as there is
a parody of her commercials - probably a SNL skit or something. Did
they (the website) know how ridiculous that commercial was when they
released it? What causes her to talk like that?

You missed a couple of them, but that's OK. None of them are as bad
as the first one. What kind of accent is that, or is it some sort of
mental affliction?

Would folks have been dissecting this person like this if she had been
a *male* hawker?
There seems to be a war on femaleness going on, championed by the
Republican Party politicians.
I'm not accusing any of you of being hostile to women, but there is
still a double standard.
Women are not, "The Other." Males and females are coequal.
I happen to be a heterosexual, White, male. None of those
characteristics makes me a person who is more worthy of respect.
He felt the need to put his "woo-hoo" maleness on parade.

LOL! I haven't seen these but they have run some ads in this market. They
are very plain, just "Suzy" gushing over her website next to a bunch of text
and web page shots.

The vids led to "The Manly Man Show". Groan! I guess I missed that whole
fiasco when it aired.

Notice she wears the same tight shirt in all the commercials.

Just listen to how she says the phrase "coupon suzy". The parody was
making fun of that phrase, especially.

That was funny. We've got a morning meteorologist and entertainment
reporter who talks a little like that. She can make a blizzard sound
exciting. She makes Shannon Moore look flat and she's pretty. She
was an NFL cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts for a few months in
2002 before taking her first job in television. Her speaking style is
very unusual. I know you don't click links but someone may want to.

I click links (depending on the URL and subject at hand). I just
despise all the unsolicited youtube (and other) videos - especially
when not necessary (like posting a video of a recipe).

The post I made above was only the second time I have ever posted a
video link. And you'll notice I wanted until the conversation was
well under way and focused before I succumbed ;-)

They never appeared here in Austin until now, either. I don't watch
much TV, commercials especially, but somehow this one caught my
attention. And I actually remember what they're advertising.

In that respects, their advertising works. I didn't go to the site,
but it's all about brand recognition, right?

You have to install an .EXE to use the site and print coupons, so I
definitely won't be using it.

I guess we're all living under rocks. These commercials are probably
aired during soap operas, Jerry Springer, and Judge Judy. Which may
explain why she's so familiar with them.

I'm not at home during the day, but when I have been home and run
across Judge Judy (or any of those daytime legal shows) the ads are
virtually all for Lawyers or celebs shilling for Lawyers who are
looking for mesothelioma or medical malpractice victims. Springer ads
during the daytime are generally for gold purchasing companies or
payday loan companies, when Springer runs on overnights the ads are
usually for 1-800 chat lines with a hot chick in the ad but you know
if you call she will likely be an ugly overweight woman who is talking
to you from her trailer. Coupon Suzy commercials might be more likely
to appear during soaps, or female-dominated afternoon shows like Oprah
used to have, but Coupon Suzy has yet to appear in the Greenville
Spartanburg Asheville TV market, and I am already dreading the day she
does.

Neither me... but I did go to that site for a look-see... after
viewing ten pages of coupons there was not one item I would ever buy.
It's very rare I see a coupon anywhere that I can use. About the only
coupons I use are for pet foods/supplies and those I can usually
download at the company web site, or register and their coupons will
periodically arrive via snail mail. Also with many companys if you
phone their company service department and tell them good things about
their products they will snail mail you a ton of coupons.

Google-Imaging for "Shannon Moore" turned up a professional wrestler
with a punk-rock gimmick.

Looking up the *right* Shannon Moore, I see she was the hostess of a
show named "Thai Food Network". In fact, she's got quite a varied résumé:

Printing coupons from online is not a new thing. In fact if you go to many
manufacturer's websites, there will be coupons available. Ditto for
restaurants. I have printed the occasional restaurant coupon because they
often get you a dinner for free. But to print one for 30 cents off of olive
oil? Not worth the waste of my time, paper or ink. And often the coupon
printing sites require you to download an app or a toolbar or some such
thing.

Also the bad thing about this sort of coupon is that there are sooo many
fakes out there. Most recently there was one for $8 off some sort of
diapers. These are often sold on Ebay. You don't want to be caught with a
counterfeit coupon! You will be prosecuted even if you bought it from
someone. And because there is such fraud, some stores won't take computer
printed coupons or if they do will go over them with a fine tooth comb.
