Just cut it up and add to a soup or stew, it's a
pretty bland vegetable to begin with. I don't
think it will make whatever you cook it in shine.

I bought some once. I thought of them as a carrot whose mom had
sex with a turnip, and whose identity suffered from both. I'm sure there
are many ways to make them taste good. I tried one and quit.

I tried it once as well and failed and I quit, too.
Parsnips are right up there with turnips in my book.

They are horrible when boiled, really nasty tasting, but when they are
roasted they are delicious. The more roasted they are the better they are.

I've got a prescription to pick up Monday at Walmart.
If they have any in stock, I'll pick one up and give
it another try.

I haven't had parsnip often, but isn't it nice oven baked, like swede
(rutabaga), and to an imo slightly lesser degree turnip and carrot?

I make no guarantees. I can only tell you that I hated them boiled but I
like them roasted, like them enough that I am willing eat them and enjoy
them. I gave them another try boiled and they were just as bad as before
I discovered the roasted version.

I hated them boiled but I like them roasted,
Cut them small (julienne) or just use the peeler
to slice them thin as potato chips; deep fry.

Curried parsnip soup. There are many variations, but be
sure to include some cumin and turmeric with the curry.

I like the sounds of that one! I see some other likely sorts as well.
Turmuric for color would be a good pick.

Sales of Bibles are booming

by Tyler Cowen December 1, 2024

https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2024/12/sales-of-bibles-are-booming.html

"Worries about the economy, conflicts abroad and uncertainty over the
election pushed readers toward the publication in droves...

Bible sales are up 22% in the U.S. through the end of October, compared
with the same period last year, according to book tracker Circana
BookScan...

By contrast, total U.S. print book sales were up less than 1% in that
period...

“People are experiencing anxiety themselves, or they’re worried for
their children and grandchildren,” said Jeff Crosby, president of the
Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. “It’s related to
artificial intelligence, election cycles…and all of that feeds a desire
for assurance that we’re going to be OK...”

Smart shopping. Since Trump is going to put 60% tariffs on goods from
China, his bile will go up in price since that is where it comes from.

Btw, after some background research on the Cloud of Unknowing, I now see
where the rub is - poor translation of 1600's middle English, coupled
with academic over-writing, makes this a book best read in short spurts.

The insights may only be a phrase or two from a given page, but are so
well-camouflaged with excess verbiage that reading sequentially obscures
them.

It's almost the obverse of the Gospel of Thomas - which as you know
eliminated context and went right to Christ's spoken words.

These messages can be very personal in the Cloud.

Thx again.

I'm happy you like it! =) It is one of my favourites. I find, like you,
that the best way to read it is _not_ to read it in one go. Instead I read
it like the Dao de ching, a chapter or two, maybe three, and then take a
break and let them grow in the mind, think about them, engage with them.
Then I read another chapter.

Yes! Thomas is very terse, almost too terse. Also not a book that lends
itself to reading in one go.

I find that when it comes to spiritual literature, the shorter the work,
the more powerful (for me) it is!

Yes! I downloaded a Thomas gospel with some commentary, and when someone
else comments its kind of "hit or miss". Some of the comments make perfect
sense, while other comments, do not hit the mark at all for me.

Right, we're talking about a scant 114 parables - yet within them the
wisdom of a thousand fold or more.

Ever run into:

The Lost Books, Book of Enoch, The Vision Of Gabriel: Interview with CEO
Mike Adams

Joseph Lumpkin

His book on the gospel of Gabriel is not well-covered. Thankfully
Lumkin's scholarship on the Apocrypha are solid.

It's almost the obverse of the Gospel of Thomas - which as you know
eliminated context and went right to Christ's spoken words.
Yes! Thomas is very terse, almost too terse. Also not a book that lends
itself to reading in one go.
Right, we're talking about a scant 114 parables - yet within them the wisdom
of a thousand fold or more.
Very much true!

His book on the gospel of Gabriel is not well-covered. Thankfully Lumkin's

This is the truth! The human psychology craves mystery and wonder! Can you
imagine a world where everything is know and explained?

This is also why proofs of god are futile. If someone succeeded in proving
god, he would at the same time destroy him.

Yes, and the clams guy cross posts some of my stuff just so he can make

He is not being dense. It was a pretty obvious reference to your past
comments about giving new users the benefit of the doubt rather than
passing them off as nymshifting trolls.

Master, you seem to ask many, many more stupid questions than her. I
always assumed you were doing that just to irritate and alienate your

But perhaps you really are only a tiny notch above the schenk's IQ.

Smart shopping. Since Trump is going to put 60% tariffs on goods from
China, his bile will go up in price since that is where it comes from.
Buy now and save!
Where can I purchase some of Trump's bile?
Just read his book, The Art Of Bankruptcy.

Now that I have one, I'd like some recommened stews or soups you like
them in? Not roasted or steamed, I'll try that later.
Thanks!
Curried parsnip soup. There are many variations, but be
sure to include some cumin and turmeric with the curry.

Sales of Bibles are booming
Understandable, the Anti-Christ will be President soon. People are
afraid!
Smart shopping. Since Trump is going to put 60% tariffs on goods from
China, his bile will go up in price since that is where it comes from.
Buy now and save!
Where can I purchase some of Trump's bile?
Please send a request to ***@whitehouse.gov.

Are you absolutely certain that no other versions have parsnip
recipes?

That is very expensive indeed for a Bible, especially if all you want
is a parsnip recipe?

Scriptural fear mongering from a secular shitbag?

How droll, and dismissed.

In a banana republic it's always good to be related to El Presidente.

So is this, lol...!!!

Remember all those Democrats in the media, in office, and elsewhere who,
after November 2020 and the following months, said Trump's political
career was over for good....???

Nice try!!!

To the contrary, Trump is so strong now that everyone from Justin
Trudeau to Mourning Joe and Mika to all sorts of business and tech
titans are flocking to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Trump...

Their actions remind me of the Holy Roman Emperor Henry the IV trekking
to Canossa castle and waiting days outside in the snow to meet Pope
Gregory the VII so to bend his knee in homage and submission,
acknowledge the Pope's power, and seek his favor and approval....

😎
