I have no doubt Leo and a lot of people love it! Personally, I can do
without gravy on mashed potatoes (butter, please!) but if there is gravy
from pot roast I prefer a very small spoonful on an indentation in the
mashed potatoes.

The one I bought was $15.94 but I got 5 meals from it. I guess I'm not

Some people like a lot of gravy, a lot more than I do. That explains how
there can be a dish like biscuits and gravy. Not for me thanks. I
confess to enjoying a little beef gravy on fries, but I have never had
poutine. A little gravy on my roast beef and maybe a spoonful on top of
my mashed potatoes.

If a Hawaiian is asked if he wants gravy. The answer will be:

A) Yes, please!

B) Yes, gravy over everything, please!

C) Yes, extra gravy, please!

D) No thanks, I'm good.

If you answer D, you're probably a tourist.

They have such good taste.

https://www.saucefanatic.com/hawaiian-brown-gravy-loco-moco-gravy/

This Loco Moco Gravy recipe comes together quickly with items that you
likely have in your pantry.

Butter: Use unsalted sweet cream butter so you can control the salt in
the gravy
Flour: All-purpose flour whisked with the butter becomes the roux which
adds thickness to the gravy.
Beef Broth: The base of the gravy, providing rich flavor.
Ketchup: Adds a little zing.
Sugar: For a bit of sweetness.
Soy Sauce and Worcestershire Sauce: For umami and depth.
Heavy Cream: For a smooth and creamy gravy.

I'd eat that on flip flops.

Lobsta feet or shark feet, it's all good.

We do get some Xrs in L & L Barbecue, so they have a chance at the good
stuff. And for a chain that joint does a nice job, their chicken katsu
is pretty decent:

https://www.hawaiianbarbecue.com/food/chicken-katsu/

But I go for the mixed BBQ plate:

https://www.hawaiianbarbecue.com/food/bbq-mix/

Their menus have shortened since Covid - they used to offer beef short
ribs as a stand-alone.

Hawaii used to be crazy about the chicken katsu plate. It might still be
but my guess is that the younger generation will go to places like
Chick-fil-A or Cane's chicken. KFC would be seen as a place for old

That's a slightly different sort from what we get stateside, but who's
going to quibble???

The key thing is that some of your food culture relocated off that rock,
same as has happened wit poke bowls - you can find them everywhere now.

We have a lot of burgers with egg on top, but how is it no one has made
a loco moco burger on a Kings Hawaiian bun with gravy?

Here's an interesting mashup with fried rice cakes serving as the bun:

If history has taught us anything, it is that one cannot have too much
gravy.

Gravy on rice?
Yes please!
A) Yes, please!
B) Yes, gravy over everything, please!
C) Yes, extra gravy, please!
D) No thanks, I'm good.
If you answer D, you're probably a tourist.

They have such good taste.

Da slippas look scary! The gravy recipe looks okay except I'd leave out
the cream. Da Hawaiians don't use stuff like that although I suppose a
Gen X Hawaiian might. I'm not sure if Gen Xers even eat loco Moco.
Lobsta feet or shark feet, it's all good.
We do get some Xrs in L & L Barbecue, so they have a chance at the good
stuff. And for a chain that joint does a nice job, their chicken katsu

Their menus have shortened since Covid - they used to offer beef short
ribs as a stand-alone.
Hawaii used to be crazy about the chicken katsu plate. It might still be
but my guess is that the younger generation will go to places like
Chick-fil-A or Cane's chicken. KFC would be seen as a place for old
farts and is a depressing place for young folks. Well that's the way I
see it.
The Hawaiian BBQ Mixed plate at L&L would be teriyaki beef, hamburger
with gravy, and a choice of beef curry, or beef stew, or chili.

Da Hawaiian food culture invades the mainland? It's about goddamn time!
A loco moco burger? I'm skeptical. Loco moco bau? That's a little goofy
but I'd try it at least once. I once had a pizza manapua. It wasn't very
good. I did enjoy the chicken curry manapua and jalapeno pork hash.

Any of these mashups are worth a look.

But fried rice cakes with the loco in the middle might not be so crazy -
messy though, lol...

We hadn't had pot roast in a while. A small one cost eleven bucks.

Cute! The gravy looks like the brown curry one I made last night!
Great over rice and to the side were shrimp and 2 fake crab sticks
chopped to squares. Also, mini-cucumbers with thousand island dressing.

I bought one last week in the marked down meat bin. But it's
now in the freezer in a Food Saver vacuumed bag for a later
date.

I get the smaller individual ones at times. Just a quick meal that
works when I don't feel like cooking.
