I have to say that plowing snow can be fun.... for a couple hours. It
got pretty boring tearing down the highway at about 25 mph trying to see
where you're going when the snow and slush are flying up and blowing
back on the windshield. Unfortunately, any time we had a decent amount
of snow I would be working the entire 8 hour shift and then 4 hours OT
until the next shift came in.
The longest I ever had to do was 25 hours. I had arrived at the
district garage and, being senior equipment operator for the district I
was recruited to take a special plow truck to the patrol area where I
used to work. We started plowing before we even got there, stopped for
lunch, for supper, a few more meal breaks. We finished by 8 am and then
I had a one hour drive back to the shop. Once I got back they sent me
home and I got paid for the day in addition to the two shifts at OT rates.

Back in the early to mid-90's I had a Cadillac Coupe Deville.

We'd had a decent snow storm and one thing our department
manager did every morning was to come around to all the areas
and speak with everybody no matter the weather. He came
to my area and spoke first with my two co-workers asking if
they had any trouble getting to work. Then he turned to me
and asked if the snow plow followed me in? ๐Ÿ˜

I just laid them across everyone's lap in the backseat.
That also prevented anyone flying through the front
windshield if I had to make a sudden stop.
