It's the only way. I must increase the intensity of my prayers for Trump.
Only he can save the US and restore it to its former glory and rightful

Human sacrifice was strictly forbidden. What Jephthath did
was a perfect example to not make foolish vows or oaths.
Abraham was tested by God to see if he would withhold
Isaac but was stopped by an angel.

Yes, you cherry picked passages without understanding
them and their meaning.

Don't worry. Modern christians don't take the bible literally and get
violent. They do pay lip service to the good lord, and that's about it.

You're thinking of muslims with their koran. But they're 600 years newer
than the christians, so they may mellow out by 2620.

This is my theory as well. Any good religion needs a bit of blood to
water it, before it matures, except the true religion, which was, is and
will forever be, perfect.

That's an elegant observation.
I wonder if there are any mainstream religions that have not had their
share of blood? Usually you hear about buddhists, but I'm pretty sure even
they have had their fights. Shinto maybe? But can it be called mainstream?

No. Abe might have been waiting to the last second to
refuse Jehova, but was superceded by the angel before
he could either outright cooperate or outright refuse.

If J wanted to prove a point, he could just resurrect
Isaac afterwards. Or perhaps J cannot really resurrect
someone who is actually dead, and not just passed-out
from pain & dehydration.

No reason to kill someone to 'prove a point.' People
who are "just passed-out from pain & dehydration"
don't breathe nor do their hearts beat.

Yahweh killed every living thing on the planet he created to make a point!

He only allowed one jewish family to survive and re-populate his toy planet.

There are many examples of his violent psychotic outbursts in the holy
scriptures he wrote for us.

You truly are a secular idjit:

https://biblearchaeology.org/research/patriarchal-era/2364-the-discovery-of-the-sin-cities-of-sodom-and-gomorrah

Two Destructions

The Bible tells of not one, but two, traumatic events that occurred in
the final days of Sodom and Gomorrah. Genesis 14 describes an attack
against the Cities of the Plain by a coalition of four Mesopotamian
kings. The battle was joined in the Valley of Siddim, probably at the
northern end of the plain. Following their rout of the army of the
Cities of the Plain,

The four kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their
food; then they went away. They also carried off Abram's nephew Lot and
his possessions, since he was living in Sodom (Gn 14:11).

Then, in Genesis 19, we have the record of the final destruction when,
because of their sin,

The Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord
out of the heavens. Thus He overthrew those cities and the entire plain,
including all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation of the
land. (Gn 19:24–25).

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2158054/Scientists-discover-evidence-meteorite-storm-hit-Earth-13-000-years-ago-killed-prehistoric-civilisation.html

Extreme heat: The meteorite impact caused the 13,000-year-old quartz
found in Syria to melt and boil, creating features including burst
bubbles and flow textures

The material was found in a thin layer of rock in Pennsylvania and South
Carolina in the US, along with Syria. Tests confirmed the material was
not of cosmic, volcanic or human-made origin.

Ok, I'm starting to understand why Trump will be re-elected. The US is
a country full of Christian Taliban.

Why do you believe a Bronze Age fairy story?
It's amazing how many people do. They don't understand physics or
astrology enough to understand how the universe was created or our
mankind evolved, so we were obviously created by God. Go figger.

Yep. And the weird part is that the Christian Taliban will get into
bed with such an un-Christian man. It's almost as if they value
money and power more than faith and good works.

And yet somehow the opposite seems to be true.

Former President Donald Trump told a group of supporters at the
Republican National Convention that surviving an attempted
assassination, “it changes your attitude, your viewpoint toward life.”

“You appreciate God even more,” he added.

This is the truth. One thing I think everyone here can agree on, is that
Trump has god on his side, and that Jesus loves him.

Based on what happen, I think that is beyond doubt.

This election bears as little on religion as any in recent memory.

Even Trump has soft-pedaled the obvious spiritual protection he is under.

always corrupted and toxic.

If an American believes in God and Jesus, does that really imply that
they also believe that emperor Hooly Hooly was stopped from killing
his house keeper because God sent an angel to intervene?

Not necessarily. Some Christians don't believe the Bible is
literally true in every respect, but that it's an inspiration for
living a righteous life. Much like Christians in more enlightened
countries.

There has been too much hard science for them to stick to the
fundamentalist version they pushed for years. Look at the crap that
Galileo went through for daring to suggest that the Earth orbited around
the sun, something that 99% accept as fact now. The Church only recanted
on that a few decades ago. The Scopes trial was less than 100 years ago.

Simple physics. Do you feel the earth moving? No. The sun though,
moves across the flat slab of earth.

If the earth was rotating, you'd feel it and the wind.

A negative proposition cannot be proved. Can you prove we _were_
created by God, without reference to faith (which appears to be a
kind of self-hypnosis)?

Generally you prove a positive claim, not a negative one. If the reverse
would be true, we'd have our metaphysical realms full of pink unicorns &
co, since it never can be proven that they do not exist. A moments
reflection should make this obvious. On the other hand, if god were to be
made "dirty" with scientific proof, he would be pulled into this world,
and either cease to be god, or destroy faith. Since faith is the key to
the deepest mystery, that would be the death of religion as we know it.

The Star Wars franchise may be allegorical to a galactic war of god vs. evil
that renders our micro-scale conflictions a reflection.
True. Star wars was one of those unique phenomenons that managed to tap
into the eternal and the spiritual. Amazing piece of art. It is also
amazing how quickly Disney could destroy it.

First, we don't know how small the pieces were, second, we don't know how
hungry people were, third, nowhere is the size and metabolism specified.
Theoretically we could imagine a scenario where the people were
microscopic, in which case there is no mystery!

An alternative theory is that Jesus fed a subset of the total population.
The greater population then fed on that subset, á la Eucharist. By the
transitive property of the feeding process, it can be deduced that Jesus
fed the total population.

Where's your proof it's a fairy story??  My proof is
faith.
But our Bible is full of exceptional geographic and physics based
lessons as well, more than sufficient to chronicle the import of Mt.
Hermon as the location of the rebellion against God.

Abraham was tested by God to see if he would
withhold Isaac but was stopped by an angel.
No. Abe might have been waiting to the last second to
refuse Jehova, but was superceded by the angel before
he could either outright cooperate or outright refuse.
Who do you think sent that angel to stay Abraham's hand?
Why do you believe a Bronze Age fairy story?
Why do you disbelieve an anthology of actual history and lifestyle?

Who do you think sent that angel to stay Abraham's hand?
Who do you think created the impulse to send the angel, in the being that
sent the angel?

If J wanted to prove a point, he could just resurrect
Isaac afterwards. Or perhaps J cannot really resurrect
someone who is actually dead, and not just passed-out
from pain & dehydration.
The only thing the scriptures teach is that Jehova loved to cause
suffering. An angry, violent, psychotic god that often acted on foolish
whims, similar to the humans he had created. Also, poor Jehova was
keenly interested in sexual behavior of his creatures. Like a man
watching an insect mate (and punishing the critter for it).

Hell, he once destroyed everything he worked so hard to create. A
tantrum, much like a 5 year old child destroying his toys.

He was a hell of a god!

Yep, that's why we care only about the new. Jesus showed us the truth.
Lord J. was a creation of the jews, and even though he got them Israel, he
demanded a high price for it.

That conclusion is an absolutist non-starter.

Clearly the Bible teaches a LOT more than that, and you know it.

about the Missouri abortion amendment.

Cherry picking scriptures is a time honored christian tradition. Entire
churches are often built on 1 verse from the bible. Snake handling
churches in the southeast are a good example ... "They shall take up
serpents", blah blah blah

Megachurches use this technique constantly. And they grow.

The Bible is full of astoundingly stupid myths. Look at the talking
donkey (Numbers 22:28). How about Noah's ark from the 7th chapter of
Genesis? The creation myths in general are stupid, and were derived
from earlier mythologies. I will give you this. Your god doesn't only
murder women and girls. Look at 1 Samuel 15:3 "Now go and smite Amalek,
and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay
both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass."
Yep, your god is a bloodthirsty baby killer. Hosea 13:16
"Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God:
they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces,
and their women with child shall be ripped up."

How any woman can read the 22nd chapter of Deuteronomy and still ascribe
to that patriarchal nonsense, I don't know.

13 If any man take a wife, and go in unto her, and hate her,

14 And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name
upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found
her not a maid:

15 Then shall the father of the damsel, and her mother, take and bring
forth the tokens of the damsel's virginity unto the elders of the city
in the gate:

16 And the damsel's father shall say unto the elders, I gave my daughter
unto this man to wife, and he hateth her;

17 And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I
found not thy daughter a maid; and yet these are the tokens of my
daughter's virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders
of the city.

18 And the elders of that city shall take that man and chastise him;

19 And they shall amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and give
them unto the father of the damsel, because he hath brought up an evil
name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put
her away all his days.

20 But if this thing be true, and the tokens of virginity be not found
for the damsel:

21 Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's
house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die:
because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her
father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Make sure you ride your donkey side saddle girls, because if somehow
your hymen gets damaged, it could be a death sentence. Some fucking
just god you got there. More Deut 22 nonsense:

28 If a man find a damsel that is a virgin, which is not betrothed, and
lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found;

29 Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father
fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath
humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Yeah girls, if you get raped, you have to marry the rapist, but the
rapist does get punished. He has to pay your daddy fifty shekels
because he damaged your daddy's property. Yep, your vagina belongs to
Daddy.

Up 60/40% in the Polymarket election betting line.
Enjoy the coming red wave, child.
