I know that most of you don't go camping, but just in case, here's what
I posted today to ND: Based on my experience in the outdoors, and on
proven research, here's what I recommend for camping. Pre-treat
clothing and tents with permethrin. Use picaridin or IR3535 on ankles
and any exposed skin. The IR3535 is especially nice for faces and
shoulders, because it is odorless, and it has come down in price enough
that it's not that much more expensive than picaridin. Lose the DEET.
It works, but it stinks. The natural plant oils are only marginally
effective, and are a waste of money. Regular Avon SSS doesn't work well
either *unless* you buy the new version of it that has added IR3535, and
that seems significantly pricier than the Cutter brand. You can trust
me, who has spent hundreds of nights camping, or you can do the research
yourself to confirm that what I posted is correct. One thing is for
sure, mosquito borne diseases are bad and tick borne diseases can be
awful. Look at this one.
https://www.cdc.gov/alpha-gal-syndrome/about/index.html

IR3535
https://www.amazon.com/Cutter-Alternative-Lightweight-Mosquitoes-Protection/dp/B0CXY9M4MX/?th=1

picaridin
https://www.amazon.com/OFF-Clean-Repellent-Spray-Picaridin/dp/B09GF1ND4D/
permethrin
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Sawyer-Products-Premium-Permethrin-Insect-Repellent-Aerosol-Spray/285085738

AND, for all of you dog and cat people, some folks have gotten Alpha-gal
syndrome badly enough that they have become allergic to their pets.

I've lost over 30 pounds since then. That was taken near the Sawdust
Pile, and today my son is camping there with his friends and their kids.
I've planted Prime Jim blackberries out there, so there may be ripe
berries for the children to eat.

How valuable are the vitamins and minerals in white bread, pasta,

Do you see up there where I said "simple carbohydrates"? Perhaps
I should have said "refined".

I don't believe in keto (people who worry about the carbs in onions
are crazy), but I belive simple carbs are the best thing to eliminate.

Why do you say "white" bread and "white rice"? This disingenuous
discussion technique is called a strawman.

"The strawman technique involves misrepresenting, distorting, or
oversimplifying an opponent's position to make it easier to attack or
refute."

Because I previously said "simple carbohydrates", and clarified
with a list of what I was talking about.

It may be a good solution for people who can't control how much they
eat. If you DO have control, there's nothing wrong with bread, pasta,
rice etc.

Ham radio operators regularly use the letters "OM" as a shorthand
reference to anyone, young or old.

It's the old 1940's version of "dude", or "bitch".

He he should not be named's father was the only ham operator I ever met.
He was a really smart guy. The mother, on the other hand, was like a
nasty wire-haired terrier. You remember my conjecture, that he was a
pervert, and subjected her to disgusting practices that most decent
women would not consent to, almost certainly involving the rectum.
That's where he should not be named got his perversions from. I hadn't
thought of that guy in weeks.

SSS doesn't work well either *unless* you buy the new version of it that has
added IR3535, and that seems significantly pricier than the Cutter brand.
You can trust me, who has spent hundreds of nights camping, or you can do the
research yourself to confirm that what I posted is correct. One thing is for
sure, mosquito borne diseases are bad and tick borne diseases can be awful.
Look at this one.

IR3535

picaridin

permethrin

AND, for all of you dog and cat people, some folks have gotten Alpha-gal
syndrome badly enough that they have become allergic to their pets.
Ticks are not charming creatures. I really dislike them! My strategy for
dealing with them is to avoid tall grass, check myself often, and remove
them within 24 hours. Then no annual medicine shots are necessary.

I did read in the news some months ago about clinical trials in sweden of
a vaccine against tick born lyme desease. Would be wonderful if it
actually works!

I know that most of you don't go camping, but just in case, here's
what I posted today to ND: Based on my experience in the outdoors, and
on proven research, here's what I recommend for camping.  Pre-treat
clothing and tents with permethrin.  Use picaridin or IR3535 on ankles
and any exposed skin. The IR3535 is especially nice for faces and
shoulders, because it is odorless, and it has come down in price
enough that it's not that much more expensive than picaridin.  Lose
the DEET. It works, but it stinks.  The natural plant oils are only
marginally effective, and are a waste of money.  Regular Avon SSS
doesn't work well either *unless* you buy the new version of it that
has added IR3535, and that seems significantly pricier than the Cutter
brand. You can trust me, who has spent hundreds of nights camping, or

Hell, just wear a neoprene wet suit when you go into the great outdoors.

That is an excellent suggestion!
