Is it just me or is everyone getting a lot of spam lately? For the last
week or so I have been getting tons of spam. My provider had been
filtering a lot of it for a long time but a few got through each day.
Lately it is more like dozens each day.

No, I haven't. I think my husband has our spam filters turned up
to 11.

No spam here. I am very careful with giving my primary email address to
naughty people. My spam trap email has about 20k messages in it though.

No, just a couple. My cell phone has been bombarded the past month or
so. Many of them were for Medicare plans as it was enrollment time.

They have a new tactic. Many of the calls would show as SPAM and I'd
decline them. Somehow, a few would be able to leave a voice mail and
then I'd have to retrieve and delete it. Instead, I now accept the call
and just ignore it and put the phone back. They disconnect after a
short time.

One company was constantly calling me about solar panels. Finally got
rid of them. They had my old address, so, I made an appointment for
someone to come to the house. After a couple of times, they no longer
call.

I have learned to ignore calls to my cell coming from adjacent area
codes because so many of them were chinese scam calls. Today I ignored
one that was area code 705. I figured if it was legitimate they would
leave a message. It's a good thing I checked the message because it was
my sister in law calling from her new cell phone. He is set up in caller
ID on the land line but was not on my cell phone contacts.

That can be annoying because a lot of plans charge extra for messages.
Mine stores only 3 messages without paying extra. Some of them leave
messages and if I don't delete them I run out of message space.

Good plan. I have been known to indulge telephone solicitors. If I am
in the right mood and have time to kill I will make a game of keeping
them on the line as long as I can. I figure that I they are on the line
with me they aren't scamming someone else.

I've had a few calls from "my TV service" that they did not get my
payment. Similar, they are upgrading my cable box and will give me a
discount but a one time charge. I tell them I don't have a CC or
checking account and will send a money order. They give me an address.

I'd like to see the look on their face when the open the envelope. I
send the a sort of money order and a nice photo of a young man I get off
the internet.

I get calls for Dan, the guy that had my home phone number at least 7
years ago. Just today, I made an appointment for duct cleaning. He is
in a gated community so they cannot just drive in.

Yabbut Dave, he made them go to someone else's house.

I did that too as a tenant in a 23-floor apartment building.

I told him to bring a few aluminum doors to model.

Spam on phone has been terrible. Verizon made a horrible shift from
the old text messaging system (rare spam, easily deleted) to some new
setup. Since then, texting has either not worked or can't be deleted
until you listen to a sales pitch (ad).

APPS gone wild and trying to install every game known to man. It's the
final nail on ever putting a credit card on the phone.

ATT also switched messaging and now I don't see the SPAM texts at all.
There is something in the Android program that wanted to install a game
every week or month but can be turned off. It was under settings or in
the Play Store

I usually get about one every other day, but I've noticed
within the last 2 weeks sometimes 2 or 3 per day in my
Junk folder. They get sent off to SpamCop, blocked, then
deleted.

Something here does not make sense. I thought 'sympatico'
was the same as 'bell' at the email routing level.

I just checked. Dave is correctin that my increase in spam
is effectively infinite because I never had a spam on that
account before but just this morning I got a message from
Bell that my email would get cut off if I do not use the
dubious-looking link to 'validate' it.

Also, there were some errors in grammar.

Maybe dave sent it to you, if you've irritated him lately.
