Has everyone decided and ordered what they wanted from
Amazon on Big Deal Days yet?? You have until midnight
tonight to decide. ⏱️

On another site a few were griping that Jeff had raised
the prices for this sale. For me, that wasn't true as
I'd had my items on my shopping list for many weeks.
Checkout time and two of my items had been reduced
while the other two items were their original price.

I got my order in yesterday and it is scheduled to be
delivered Thursday, the 10th. I've also got an order
to be delivered the same day from Walmart. They beat
Amazon's price by $28 and like the big A, the shipping
was free.

I got a good deal on some Amazon Basics brand AA/AAA batteries and
Halloween candy, but other than that, I didn't get anything...

I get my vittles delivered from both SquallMart and Amazon, and I would
dearly LUV a Prime Day dealie where groceries were offered at 2019
prices, lol...

I am still shocked at the rise in grocery prices... I luckily can absorb
the costs, but I'd sure hate to be feeding a family at these prices...

WHAT did ya get, Joan... and did you get some cool stuff for MISS
KITTY...???

;-D

Actually, I did! I got her an automatic cleaning litter
box. I've been looking at theses for about 6 weeks and
of course the first brand I checked out on Amazon was
the Litter Robot. I had done a LOT of research on
YouTube as well as there are many different models/designs
brands to choose from. All have their good and bad points.
Litter Robot comes in at $499 to $899 and that quickly
was eliminated.

The one I got from Walmart is all over Amazon under a
dozen different brand names. If you buy at least 1000
units from the manufacturer you can put your own brand
name and price on it.

I can't help but think about Ed and his neighbours. If they get

I'm sure Ed's porch will be fine. His house was built to withstand
hurricane force winds better than others. But he's probably not
ordering anything from Amazon to be delivered during a hurricane. Their
electric van delivery fleet would probably have some issues getting through.

Their vans are all electric??? That could be a problem in the aftermath
of a really bad hurricane. Sometimes the electrical grid is destroyed
and it could be days or even weeks before they get things up and running
again. A couple days ago there was a report of 50 Ontario Hydro trucks
stopping for a break on their way down to North Carolina to help get

I can't say all of Amazon's delivery vans are electric but I've seen
electric Amazon delivery vans in my area. They do have a fleet of them.
Don't ask me where they go to recharge them. Savannah, GA, maybe.

North Carolina (Ashville, in particular) was really hard hit by
Hurricane Helene what with water running down from the mountains to the
lakes and terrible flooding. That was a nasty storm. We weren't
supposed to get hit with it but the Beaufort SC area was with lots of
unexpected power outages.

I hope they have something closer than that. That would be about 100
miles and 2 hours of driving. That would not leave much battery power
for the deliveries.

The damage done is stunning. We have to be somewhat pragmatic about it
and realize that one of the reasons there are river valleys like that is
that there have been similar floods in the past that helped to form
those valleys.

Those river valleys are called "hollers". Hollers have produced some
terrific musicians. Doc Watson and Dolly Parton easily come to mind.
I never considered that a hurricane could wash them out. Live and learn.

My guess is that Amazon deliveries won't be an issue. There won't be any
for a while. When Hurricane Iniki hit Kauai, there wasn't any
electricity for over a month. Our receptionist was stuck on the island
for about a week. She hopped on a barge to get back to Oahu. That must
have been quite a boat ride.

Yeah, that was pretty stupid. Ed's grand-daughter is going to need to
order a new trailer though. I predict that a lot of folks will leave
rather than rebuild, as insurance is going to become prohibitively
expensive on folks' goat barns.

No.  There's nothing I want.
I can't help but think about Ed and his neighbours.  If they get
overnight delivery they may not have a porch to leave the deliveries on.
I'm sure Ed's porch will be fine.  His house was built to withstand
hurricane force winds better than others.  But he's probably not
ordering anything from Amazon to be delivered during a hurricane.
Their electric van delivery fleet would probably have some issues
getting through.
Jill
Actually for these type of situations, you should check out Amazon
Sub-Prime. They deliver packages either through tunnels, directly to
your house, or through submarine!
I bet Leo gets great service to Nevada via that massive underground
submarine tunnel the Navy built.

Thanks for the link. I grew up here and spent nearly two years of my life
working on "The Base".
The face of the mountain in back of her is Mount Grant. Walker Lake is
to the right, out of sight.

Did you know they have a submarine operation and facilities in northern
Idaho's Lake Pend Oreille (sp?)

Allegedly there is also a tunnel out to the ocean from there.

It's a very deep glacial lake so they test sonar there.

A naval base in the desert? That's insidious - throw those commies off!
We have a ordnance museum in Hawaii. It's an entire island. That's the
good news. The bad news is that there's so much explosives there that
nobody can live on Kahoolawe. The good news is that there might be
turtles.

Pretty sure Amazon has stopped delivery in the area
for a few days. No need to risk a drivers life for
a house that might not be standing.

He could just tell the delivery service to leave the
goods with a neighbour.

I have two friends who have Amazon Prime accounts and frequently offer
to order things for me on their accounts to avoid shipping charges.

I have to say that I am impressed with the quick delivery times. The
last time I ordered something from Amazon I place the order late on a
Tuesday night and it arrived at 9am Thursday morning.

Depends on area, but some items can be delivered same day, most are next
day. You can also get "key delivery" with certain garage door openers.
They put the stuff inside out of view.

At my stage in life, there is not much I need on sale or not. Last year
I spent less than I ever did. Food and an occasional adult beverage.

Your Majesty is so wise.
Do you ever get tired of playing the trolling charade out here 24/7/365?

I mean it's a well-crafted enough royal mockery, but frankly you've had
about as much luck impacting her bullying behaviors as I have, which is
to say none.

At what point do you move on to greener grass and cede another corner of
ueslessnet to political polarization and bullying infamy?

And where do you go (if you do) on reddit or wherever for actual on
topic cooking interactions?

And if not, what is so special about trying to knock some sense into an
aging lonely bully with a coterie of equally isolated nattering spinsters?

Serious questions.

I have a purse; it's not worn out. I'll buy another one when it is.
Could be a while; I only use it once a week when I visit my mother
and need to carry extra stuff. Otherwise, I just put my wallet,
phone, and keys in my pockets.

And please do not forget the eco-lifecycle assessment. Please think about
your CO2 footprint for the love of god!
Time for your nap.
You are so ful of hate! Repent or Trump will not forgive you when he wins.
I believe there is a small kernel of humanity deep inside there somewhere.
Accept Jesus in your life, and Trump, and let it shine!
Bringing Christ within nurtures and saves our souls.
And the cost?
Eternal grace asks only faith in return.
Amen!

I thought he sicked both Jeasus and Trump on you.

Pretty serious, both gods are very vindictive. If one don't get you, the
other will. You're doomed.

I bought a leather backpack purse I'd been eyeing for
many weeks. It had been reduced by $20.00 then the Big Deals
Day knocked off another $31.00 so I jumped on that!
I guess I'm not a "shopper". I don't eye stuff. If I need it, I
buy it.
I have a purse; it's not worn out. I'll buy another one when it is.
Could be a while; I only use it once a week when I visit my mother
and need to carry extra stuff. Otherwise, I just put my wallet,
phone, and keys in my pockets.
Well, I guess that makes me a shopper as when I want/need
something I will search around for what I want and check the
price, check their return policy, check for a coupon, and let's
not forget look for free shipping.
So few places have the stuff I want, there isn't much searching
around. When I find something I want, I buy it and rarely think
about the price.

I can find anything online. I have no patience for searching here,
there, and everywhere for the best bargain. I'm the same with
shopping in brick-and-mortar stores.

Amazon and McMaster-Carr pretty much cover the gamut.

Has everyone decided and ordered what they wanted from

No.  There's nothing I want.
Ditto.  Even if I paid for a Prime subscription, nothing I wanted or

Me too; but when I order online, Amazon often has by
far the cheapest price (and free delivery).

In August I pre-ordered a new book due to be published
at the end of September; paid Amazon £20 (the publisher's
price) with free delivery.

The day the book arrived, Amazon refunded £10 to my
account. They'd already discounted it.

And THAT, right there THAT is why these groups die out.

Political warfare has no bidnits at the the cooks' station.

And THAT, as much or more than the termination of free googoo posting,
THAT is what has killed uselessnet.

Sadly the overweight of emotionally charged and unstable control freak

On another site a few were griping that Jeff had raised
the prices for this sale. For me, that wasn't true as
I'd had my items on my shopping list for many weeks.
Checkout time and two of my items had been reduced
while the other two items were their original price.
I got my order in yesterday and it is scheduled to be
delivered Thursday, the 10th. I've also got an order
to be delivered the same day from Walmart. They beat
Amazon's price by $28 and like the big A, the shipping
was free.
Sorry, I don't need anything from them at the moment, and I refuse to buy
things only because it's a special date or a special price. I buy when I
need something, and otherwise I don't.
