Dear rfc:ers,

Yesterday I went with the wife to the local market, and lo and behold,
it's sauerkraut season! So we bought a kg of sauerkraut which I am very
much looking forward to.

But not only that!

I found fresh lingonberries and will make classic, swedish lingonberry jam
(rårörda lingon https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/R%C3%A5r%C3%B6rda_lingon)
which goes very well with meatballs and also with potato pancakes.

On top of that, a big jar of honey and about a kg of sausages and various
dried meats.

A very good expedition!

On top of that, last nights dinner was pumpkin and lentil soup with a dash
of coconut milk, fried pork and bread croutons.

I'm more of a spring guy myself, but the wife completely and firmly stands
with you on this question! ;)

It was her creation, so I don't have the recipe, but she hacks the pumpkin
into small pieces, boils with lentils, adds spice in the form on ginger,
garlic, salt, pepper, turmeric. Then after boiling, she runs it through a
mixer to get a nice creamy texture.

Then, adding to it, fry some small pieces of salted pork, we also chopped
the remains of my rye bread into small fried pieces as well, and to top it
off, add some coconut milk as well.

Ooooh...very seasonal as pumpkins ripen about now depending on latitude!

A great many farmers harvest and leave the rest in their fields for the
cows.

Yes, the leaves are starting to turn yellow! I'll give it another 4 weeks
and by then it will be time for my autumn jacket.

Puffy or wool?

Or maybe just polar fleece?

Favored styles change so quickly.

I have a Barbour jacket, so it's made with medium weight 6oz waxed cotton.
Perfect for autumn and parts of winter! For more formal occasions, I have
a black wool car coat usually work with my very nice Loake oxfords or
boots.
