On Eating Spam for Christmas

When unimpressed with turkey and mince pies,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And curse fat Santa with ungrateful cries,
And look on tasteless gifts from folks I hate,
Wishing I had the riches I have not,
Futures like him, like him of funds possess'd,
Desiring this man's wife, and that man's yacht,
With what I most enjoy presented least:
Yet in these thoughts the season most despising,
Haply I dine on Spam,--and then my state
(Like to some butterfly of hope arising
From misty dusk) sings carols at God's gate;
For on sweet Spam I dine with such trimmings
That I relish Christmas joy’s o’erbrimmings.

IPA.
Actually, if you stick a sprig of holly into the Spam,
it looks quite festive:-)

Christmas morning breakfast was cubed red potatoes fried up with diced
SPAM, tossed with seasoned scrambled eggs. SPAM haters can hate, but we
all thought it was a very good meal.

Served like that, no thanks... It's way too salty in slices. I only
like it diced up small. I don't have to salt anything with a whole can
of SPAM diced up.

I guess Steve is finally done with RFC. He still posts on the Facebook

Congrats on a great breakfast. Da Hawaiians would love it. This morning,
I had an Impossible Breakfast Sandwich from Starbucks. It was a fake
pork sausage sandwich. Even my finely tuned sense of taste could not
identify it as not being real pork. Truly, these are amazing times.

I've tried fake meat. A person who hasn't eaten meat for a while
might think it tasted like meat. Or if it's disguised by a sauce.
Or if they do not actually have a finely tuned sense of taste.

Today for lunch: vegetable soup with beans in it. Plant-based
food that doesn't have to mimic meat. Or have these ingredients:

Water, Soy protein concentrate, Sunflower oil, Coconut oil,
Methylcellulose, Salt, Yeast extract, Spices, Cultured dextrose, and
Food starch modified.

I think "food starch modified" is made from GMO corn. Impossible makes
their burgers taste like beef as follows:

Impossible Foods takes DNA from soybeans and inserts it into a
genetically-engineered yeast, which is then fermented to produce heme.
This means that Impossible Foods' heme is vegan, but it also means that,
unlike many other plant-based brands on the market, its products are not
GMO-free.

I'll stick with my homemade soup.

I think I'd avoid that one too!

Today was Vegetable Broth cooking. Charlotte got a giggle as we dumped
limp chopped carrots, peels of stuff (we made carmelized onions in the
crockpot at the same time so had lots of skins to give the broth a deep
golden color).

This forms the background of most of my broth needs for the next 2
weeks. If it needs a chicken note added, I use a broth powder to add
that. When I post recipes, I often say Chicken Broth as more
available, but it's more common to be vegetable broth with a bit of
chicken powder added.

Tonights dinner was a light soup. We seem to have a case of the flu
like Jill, but fortunately milder.

4 cups vegetable broth
2 tsp miso paste
9 Choy Sum leaves
3 TB minced cooked octopus
1 minced cooked cherry stone (large) clam, about 2.5 TB
Pinch of ginger powder
light sprinkle white pepper per bowl

Lay 4 Choy sum leaves on top of each other, stems downward. Cut off
stems (store for veggie broth) and roll them neatly to a tube then cut
across to 1/3 inch bits. Repeat with 4 more leaves.

Assemble and bring to simmer then serve. Goes well with fresh buttered
bread.

Bruce enjoys seeing animals starve due to lack of plants, and he enjoys
killing billions of insects and establishing monocultures of crops, that
will be wiped out by the next threat. Very sad. =( I'll stick with my

eaten, it is very spiritual actually, come to think of it. =)

Actually, if you stick a sprig of holly into the Spam,
it looks quite festive:-)
Christmas morning breakfast was cubed red potatoes fried up with diced

all thought it was a very good meal.
Congrats on a great breakfast. Da Hawaiians would love it. This morning,

Americans are so in awe of the Maillard reaction yet at the same time,
terrified at putting a little color in their food. I find that to be
strange. I don't care for the bitter taste of charred food, so I avoid
that. My wife thought the meatloaf was just awesome. I purposefully
baked the loaf at 400 degrees on the air fry setting to get that
appearance. Being able to maximize caramelization on food is a skill
that few home cooks develop. If I was cooking for other people at a
restaurant, I'd tone it down a bit, of course.

TIAD is pretty lame. Sheldon had a brain injury. What's your excuse?

In order to have a finely tuned sense of taste, you have to have tasted
a wide range/variety of foods and understand what your experiencing. In
order to be a good cook, you have to be able to imagine what your
ingredients will become after you've cooked/combined/mix them together.

You eat like a spoiled, fussy, child with limited food experience. You
lack imagination and rely on lame/nasty/tired rfc clichés like TAID. In
the end, it's all about knowledge. What I know is that it's relatively
easy to create a realistic pork sausage analog. That's something you
will forever remain ignorant about. That's the breaks.

On Eating Spam for Christmas
When unimpressed with turkey and mince pies,
I all alone beweep my outcast state,
And curse fat Santa with ungrateful cries,
And look on tasteless gifts from folks I hate,
Wishing I had the riches I have not,
Futures like him, like him of funds possess'd,
Desiring this man's wife, and that man's yacht,
Yet in these thoughts the season most despising,
Haply I dine on Spam,--and then my state
(Like to some butterfly of hope arising
From misty dusk) sings carols at God's gate;
For on sweet Spam I dine with such trimmings
That I relish Christmas joy’s o’erbrimmings.
What were you drinking last night?
IPA.
Actually, if you stick a sprig of holly into the Spam,
it looks quite festive:-)
Cloves would have been better with the Spam. ;)

I know you dislike Christmas and all that so that was pretty funny.
