It is another cold miserable day here, so a good day for baking. I am
making two batches of shortbread cookies. The first tray managed to get
a little over cooked. I had suspicions about the time because I had put
the tray in as soon as I had rolled out the dough and cut the cookies.
Then I rolled out the second half of that batch of dough and when that
was done I go out the second batch of dough. I set those three trays to
the side and looked at my timer and was surprised to see 17 minutes to
go. No way I did all that work in less than 4 minutes but I really had
no idea how many minutes to knock off. They are a little too brown, but
the one I sampled was pretty good. The second tray looks much better
after coming out at 20 minutes.

I'm willing to bet that first tray won't go to waste.
But if you fear no one will eat them, just mail them
to me. By the way, it's a beautiful sunny day here
and 42°F (6°C) and predicted to be no warmer than
43°F (6.11°C). No plans for adventuring out today
at all!

Thanks for the kind offer, but I am sure we will be able to choke them
down.

It has warmed up all the way to 32 here.
My sister in law lives in Bracebridge and was visiting with her son in
Toronto. Now she is stuck down there because the highway up there has
been closed for the last 24 hours because they had more than 3 feet of
snow. That is a freak snowfall for that area. They are used to snow but
not that much. Given the number of people who were too obstinate to pull
off when it started getting bad there are thousands of vehicles stuck,
so it is going to take a long time to clean things up.
