Tonight's food offering at your house? Something plain
and simple or more on the exotic end?

Here it will be boneless pork chops with a light sear
then simmered for maybe an hour or less with a can of
cream of mushroom soup for gravy. A bunch of sliced,
fresh mushrooms will join the simmer. Green beans
and mashed potatoes will be the side dishes, but no
bread.

I thawed some chili, and it's in the crockpot warming on this COLD 17°
day...

Will be garnished with shredded cheddar and oyster quackers...

Damn ... that's what I'm having, but with ritz crackers instead of
oyster crackers! Good thought about the cheese, maybe I'll toss some on
it myself.

I found a small package of shredded cheese that's almost gone. It should
be enough.

Actually no. I've had this package in the refrigerator
about 3 or 4 days and I was able to jump on a marked
down pack yesterday. All are being cooked as I write
and will be shared with a neighbor.

You mean you don't believe that she has a neighbor with similar, low
brow tastes? She's posted about the crap they share numerous times, so
perhaps you owe her an apology for questioning her honesty.

Homemade chili, with a splash of hell's kitchen habanero sauce.
Accompanied with Ritz crackers, lightly and gently smeared with Jiff
creamy peanut butter.

Well, the chili sounds great but you're living on the
edge with the habanero sauce. But peanut butter on
crackers WITH the chili???

Do you have nightmares at night when you consume this
concoction??

Jiff peanut butter
"Roasted Peanuts, Sugar, Contains 2% Or Less Of: Molasses, Fully
Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils (rapeseed And Soybean), , Salt."
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Jif-Creamy-Peanut-Butter-40-oz/10308250?classType=VARIANT&athbdg=L1600

The only ingredients you need are peanuts and possibly salt. The rest
is gunk.

All non-organic peanut butters at Walmart contain added sugar and
gunk. The only way to avoid the crap is to buy organic, but that's
more expensive. RFK to the rescue!

For Hank this is all moot, of course. All he needs is a brown
substance he can stick his nose in.

Years ago, there was a little shop near us which sold freshly-ground
peanut butter. You'd select your peanuts, have them weighed up, and
they'd be ground right in front of you.

I think that's all you need. I buy peanut butter from ALDI.
Ingredients: roasted peanuts and salt. Not organic, not expensive,
from humble ALDI. Why is it so much harder for Americans to get
something decent?

It's not difficult. There are numerous brands of natural peanut
butter.

Fun fact: natural peanut butter doesn't meet the specifications
set out by the USDA for peanut butter. It has too much fat. They
have to call it "peanut butter spread" or at least not use the
term "peanut butter".

Sure, if googling for "natural peanut butter" means "generally
available":

Smucker's Creamy Natural
Crazy Richard's Creamy Natural
Santa Cruz Organic Dark Roasted Creamy

And some store brands:

Whole Foods 365
Kirkland Signature Organic

The words "peanut butter" have been elided from the product names
because I'm a lazy typist.

I don't eat very much peanut butter, just a few times per year. I
buy Jif, just as my mother did.

The strange thing is that when you do a search at Walmart for peanut

Years ago, there was a little shop near us which sold freshly-ground
peanut butter. You'd select your peanuts, have them weighed up, and
they'd be ground right in front of you.
I think that's all you need. I buy peanut butter from ALDI.
Ingredients: roasted peanuts and salt. Not organic, not expensive,
from humble ALDI. Why is it so much harder for Americans to get
something decent?
It's not difficult. There are numerous brands of natural peanut
butter.
Can you name a few generally available brands?
Sure, if googling for "natural peanut butter" means "generally
Smucker's Creamy Natural
That's a good one. I'd buy it.

The words "peanut butter" have been elided from the product names
because I'm a lazy typist.
I don't eat very much peanut butter, just a few times per year. I
buy Jif, just as my mother did.
The strange thing is that when you do a search at Walmart for peanut
butter, they bombard you mainly with crap brands. Maybe those are the
most popular ones, like Jif.
Yes, they are. The vast majority of Americans like their peanut
butter a little (or a lot) sweet, and they don't like to have to
stir in the oil.

I just move a spoon through the stuff, from top to bottom and back up,
dump it on a slice of bread and spread it with a knife. Very easy. I
don't need palm oil or hydrogenated oil etc. Peanuts are oily enough

They also tend to _stratify_ on the shelf requiring neat little helper
gadgets like this:

Fits 16 oz Jars with 3" Lid (Size 100)
SKU: 54322
Backordered
$16.99

(as you can see they sell through, so there is a need)

BENEFITS OF PEANUT BUTTER STIRRERS
Prevent oily messes with a peanut butter stirrer from Lehman's. The oil
in non-hydrogenated peanut butter naturally separates over time, but
Grandpa Witmer's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Mixer stirs the oil back
into the peanut butter.

Prevents an oily mess
Easy to use with your favorite peanut butter
Molded plastic knob
Does not fit all peanut butter jars, please measure lid diameter before
purchasing!
Made in USA

The popularity of all natural, non-hydrogenated peanut butter is growing
as people discover its genuinely nutty flavor and healthy benefits.
However, the peanut oil often separates and collects in the top of the
jar, potentially causing an oily mess.

Not to worry! Grandpa Witmer's Old Fashioned Peanut Butter Mixer easily
stirs the yummy ingredients back together for smooth spreading.

To Use:

Replace the lid on your peanut butter jar with the mixer lid
Place the stirrer down into the jar
Turn the handle for perfectly blended peanut butter

Wotta concept eh?

Gotta love those "back to organic" Amish folks!

In my investigations, I found that in the U.S., crappy peanut butter
is lower in fat than good peanut butter. 55% versus 70%, typically.
The USDA defines peanut butter to be no more than 55% fat.

I think they grind up the peanuts, take away the oil and sell it
for frying, then add solid fat back to the peanut meal.

I used to buy the Publix brand of "natural" PB - ingredients: peanuts &
salt. They don't sell it anymore. Many of the so-called "natural"
peanut butters also contain emulsifiers.

I've already posted re 'Pisti' (Pistachios + sugar + milk powder &c)

https://store.berchicci.ca/pisti

Available at times at Cosctco here; not sure about in the USA.

It's truly worth the extra cost vs. peanut butter.

Considering 'Nutella', I have just now while writing this message
thought about mixing in some cocoa powder. Stay tuned.

Real nut butter, with only nuts or nuts and salt are great. Crap like
Jif and Skippy (and Peter Pan and various store brands) are garbage.

Almond butter is nice too. Speaking of almonds. My wife is going to
make an allulose version of macarons with a frangipan, finely chopped
dried cherries and dark chocolate sandwich filling. The only *sugar*
would be what's in the little bit of chocolate and the unsweetened dried
cherries.

I think that's all you need. I buy peanut butter from ALDI.
Ingredients: roasted peanuts and salt. Not organic, not expensive,
from humble ALDI. Why is it so much harder for Americans to get
something decent?
I see you're still talking out your ass, and trolling Americans.
By all means prove me wrong, Mr Sensitive American Ego.
You've snipped the link to a list of natural peanut butters that
I posted that are readily available here, troll-boi. They're no
harder to find here than they are there.

I think that's all you need. I buy peanut butter from ALDI.
Ingredients: roasted peanuts and salt. Not organic, not expensive,
from humble ALDI. Why is it so much harder for Americans to get
something decent?

The guy has that typical pseduo-germanic Dutch arsehole attitude.

No wonder his progenitors completely fucked South Africa up.

I imagine he's a shitbag to his Asstrailer hosts too, just not as in

Hey, Angry Jimmy, maybe this can calm your anger. Calvé peanut
butter, the most popular peanut butter in the Netherlands when I left
the country 18 years ago:

Ingredients: PEANUT 85%, vegetable oil (rape seed, soy, fully hardened
palm), salt.

https://www.calve.nl/p/pindakaas.html/08711200428953

So no sugar, because not many countries have a sweet tooth like the
Americans, but still full of crap.

Do you feel better now, Angry Jimmy?

Well, the most popular peanut butters are the ones with added crappy
oils, sugar and God knows what. Isn't that strange? "Honey, when you
go to the supermarket tomorrow, can you bring some really crappy,
unhealthy peanut butter? Don't buy the good stuff, please, I'm
suicidal, you know."

Tonight's food offering at your house?  Something plain
and simple or more on the exotic end?
I like a little sugar in my food. You can always get Skippy All Natural
Peanut Butter. It's all natural with no hydrogenated fat! Maybe you
can't get it in your country although, with a name like "Skippy", you
think they would sell it in Ozland. They like queer names like that.

I have had more peanut butter in the last 5 years than I had had over

peanut butter and banana sandwich is a quick and easy lunch.

I make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for my wife to eat at work.
I'll taste the peanut butter and the jelly. The Skippy peanut butter
looks so weird. It's so loose, limp, and oily. I don't recall peanut
butter looking like that. I get the stuff from Costco so it's dirt cheap
and there's a lot of it. This could be the end of peanut butter as we

Tonight's food offering at your house?  Something plain
and simple or more on the exotic end?

I like a little sugar in my food. You can always get Skippy All Natural
Peanut Butter. It's all natural with no hydrogenated fat! Maybe you
can't get it in your country although, with a name like "Skippy", you
think they would sell it in Ozland. They like queer names like that.

Done in a Jif!
I don't typically eat peanut butter because I'm a fully grown man. But
when I do, I prefer Jif Peanut butter.

Just watch out for the trans-fat!

This is the truth. When I was young, skippy was one of the few brands I
could buy, and only the unhealthy version. These days, there's plenty to
choose from, including all natural peanut butter where you have to stir in
the oil, which is my favourite.

Nope, been doing it for about a century.

I think the sweet nuttiness would pair nicely with chili. That
profile works well in Thai food, for example. And in India,
especially for peanut chutney.

Here it will be boneless pork chops with a light sear
then simmered for maybe an hour or less with a can of
cream of mushroom soup for gravy.  A bunch of sliced,
fresh mushrooms will join the simmer.  Green beans
and mashed potatoes will be the side dishes, but no
bread.

Sounds like a winner! Especially the Habanero sauce!

We went out to lunch and I had Szechuan tofu. Dinner will be
a salad with grilled chicken, dressed with lemon vinaigrette.
And a couple slices of fresh bread from the bakery, drizzled
with extra-virgin olive oil.

Careful Cindy, tofu does not contain meat! Should best be avoided. =/

Very simple today - it's been a busy, stressful week.
Locally made manicotti, baked with my home-made red sauce, served with
broccoli and cauliflower (fresh, not frozen).

Well, hopefully, it was *not* "chunky" - style peanut butter...
