I've been keeping an eye on the weather forecast for Friday
and the upcoming weekend. It seems it will be a tad worse
than originally predicted. Now the snowfall is expected
to be 5-8"+ and starting before dawn which is earlier than
first reported and expected end by 8:00 p.m. Friday night.

I decided to get my glad rags on and head to the store and
not try to risk it Friday. Traffic getting to the store
was quite heavy and the grocery parking lot was PACKED.
The store was like a disturbed anthill! Not much was
needed here, and I was able to get everything on my list
with the exception of bread. A lot of specialty breads
but no regular sandwich bread like white, whole wheat,
oat, whole grain, etc. I've got bread but wanted another
loaf, however, there are no plans for binge eating of
sandwiches.

They had gotten a large shipment of milk but eggs with
the exception of flats were pretty much non existent.

Hermit weekend planned here!!

Don't tell me that. Our forecast for the next few days is snow, but in
tolerable amounts.

I am not worried about being snowed in. If I am I have a project to keep
me busy. I bought myself a slide scanner for Christmas and will spend
the time digitizing my old slides. If I have more time I will go over
to my brothers and borrow my father's old slides and scan them too.

Fortuitively I have a referbished WIN11 machine to unbox and start
setting up (this one is dying slowly).

I also just got in my new 'toys' which are heat pads to use for
seedlings in my back sunroom extension. It's not heated back there and
I had to wait to start seedlings too long last year to give it a go.

They came in a 4 pack with a thermal adjuster on each of them. I also
got another grow light with 2 adjustable led plant light sets. I
ordered some seeds but may start the herb pots now then relocate to the
front room or the former garage turned family room/pantry extension.

This reminds me of my years in Memphis when there was snow & ice and the
stores ran out of nearly everything. People panic bought bread, milk
and toilet paper.

This does look like it will be a nasty winter storm in your area so
hopefully you got everything you need. And hopefully you will not have
extended power outages and have a way to cook if you lose power.

That's very nice of your Majesty. I didn't think your highness was

We don't have that problem here, with snow, just hurricanes.

I do remember though, up north every snow storm it was the same the day
before We always went two days ahead and less crowded.

I went to get a few things this morning at about 10AM and 53 degrees.
Store was fairly empty, to cold for the natives to go out.

Oh poor thing! (seriously my sympathy, I had to shop today too in the
same madhouse).

Our store had plenty of eggs but no milk except buttermilk (lucky me,
that's what I needed as tomorrow is baking day).

I needed eggs, buttermilk, birdseed (birds going crazy), flour and 2
sales items we like (Kayem hotdogs and Kayem sausage). I didn't want
to go to Asian Market just for more types of greens so we went home
with those things. They had 7 lines open with cashiers, all busy but
not too long. 1 or 2 people in each.

Our snow is 2-4 inches and starts tommorrow evening through mid-day
Saturday. A non-issue to cause such a panic since it will melt off by
Sunday but that's VB for ya!

That same storm hit us several days ago. It was mild compared to what it
then became. Stay warm. Stay safe.

Looks like 2 or 3 inches here, starting about mid-afternoon
today (Friday). Then we'll have three days where the temperature
is up around freezing. I hope I can get most of the snow to melt
away. To that end, I salted the driveway yesterday afternoon.

Ob. Food: Tried a new Thai restaurant yesterday. It wasn't
very good, so I doubt we'll be back. They obviously fry some
stuff in advance (the tofu in my pad thai, for example), chill
it, and then incorporate it into the dish. The tofu was leathery
on the outside and cold in the center.

I got up at 4:00 to go to the bathroom and nothing at that time.
I woke up at 6:00 and peeked out and a light blanket of snow.
At 9:05 it looked like a pillow fight with all the big, fluffy
flakes coming down and now it's just very small flakes falling
and if it were rain I'd say it's drizzling.

Ugh, that sounds terrible, and I'd been apt to complain, but in
a nice way that you know the stuff is pre-fried and cold.

It started drizzling snow here about an hour ago. Thus far,
the salt on the driveway is keeping up.

I didn't really see any point in complaining. They're not going
to change their methods for me.
