Looks like Miss Bwuthie is trying to evade killfiles again, she is
now posting under an "Arnie" moniker...
Real Bruce is not trying to evade killfiles, he's trying to stay one
step ahead of his personal frogger trollie.
I stopped opening all Bruce posts a while ago and now I don't open
Killfiles are from the age of limited bandwidth. Now, one can just
not open posts.
Even if not on dial-up, it's still a nice thing to get rid of the
garbage posts, and have less stuff to sort through. I'd be here almost
3 hours a day if I read all messages, and responded to many.
I never use my killfile, it'd just becomes something I'd need to
remember to update. I find it easier to remember the few posters
whose posts I don't read, in fact when I bring in a batch of posts the
first thing I do is delete their posts and move right along. And I
have a system for eliminating wasting time, when I look at a thread
anyone who posts more than two posts in a row I delete... some posters
make 9-10 posts in a row, those are easy to spot and I delete them all
And then there are those posters who I should delete unread but since
they are entertaining in a morbid sort of way and are one liners I
read them, like Kootchie, who never types much. Some posters can type
thousands of words and say nothing, those I know to delete after the
first 3 lines.
To me Newsgroup posts are either informative or amusing, if not I
delete those unread. I generally don't read recipes because I don't
cook by recipes, I use no recipe to cook beef stew for instance, that
I cook pretty much by what's in my fridge. Natcherally if I don't
have any potatoes, carrots onions and beef scratch beef stew, and
dinner can easily become pork chops, I always stock up on pork chops,
and they defrost quickly. And then there's always eggs. I rarely buy
chicken, sometimes skinless boneless chicken breasts for cutlets... or
it's far easier to pick up a rotisserie chicken from the local market,
all cooked and ready to eat for $5... goes well with fly lice or egg
noodles and a veggie, we always have bags of frozen mixed veggies.
